Mr Busa helped pull the young woman out of the wreckage. He said she was able to move and speak but was badly shaken.

 This text from the BBC news. 

can i cahage the sentence like "

  1. Mr Busa helped pulling  the young woman out of the wreckage. He said she was able to move and speak but was badly shaken.
  2. Mr Busa helped to pull the young woman out of the wreckage. He said she was able to move and speak but was badly shaken.
if not what are the reason for the incorrectness ?

 After the verb help, you can use the full infinitive or the bare infinitive.

helped to pull or helped pull.

But not helped pulling.

The only reason is that these are the rules for the grammar of the verb help.

i strongly thought this sentence pattern like this.

Helped pulling  = verb + -ing.

 

   1. Ian suggested going to the cinema.
   2. Mr Busa helped pulling  the young woman.

above two sentences has a same grammar pattern. Therefore, why second sentence is inocrecrt.
