How do you change this active sentence into a passive one?

The fortunate red colour and the deafening noises were intended to sare the monster away.

Perhaps:

We planned to use the fortunate red colour and deafening noises to SCARE the monster away.

The "fortunate red colour" What's that? It makes no sense in English.

Do you mean the "lucky colour red"... but that doesn't scan too well either...

I presume we're translating from Chinese here?
