does it mean " go for the thing you always want " or does it mean " even you want something so much, you still need to choose a good one from the bad ones " ? or maybe neither of my understandings is correct? please explain what it means and why. thank you for your help.

It could mean a number of things. It depends on the context in which it is said, and also on the speaker's tone, facial expression, etc.

Perhaps you would like to provide a context for us to comment on.
