Does "to check the taps" mean "to check if there still is some beer in stock"?
I've heard this in a TV drama, but does 'tap' really mean 'beer'?
Also, does it mean other drinks such as juice or wine?

Some context is definitely needed here. The phrase could mean lots of things.

When I say to my wife, in the car, "Did you remember to check the taps?", it means "Are you sure you turned off the water at the sink before you left the house?"

Best wishes, Clive

Thanks, Clive.
Though it depends on the context, 'tap' is used to mean something that is related to
drink including water or beer.
In the context I mentioned, the speaker was the owner of a bar.
He was talking about the stock of beer, according to the subtitles.
So in this case, 'tap' refers to 'beer', I guess. Correct?
