Hello Karuna, and welcome to English Forums.  I'm sorry, but I do not quite understand your message.  Is this your meaning?--

I am replacing my name on the sim card application with my friend's name.

(And I don't know what a sim card is, either!)

Hi,

In Canada, we each have a government-issued SIN card (Social Insurance Number).

(And I don't know what a sim card is, either!)  What, Mr Micawber - no cell phone?  It's the Subscriber Identity Module needed to operate the phone.

Hi,

I have a cell phone but I've never heard of a subscriber identity module. Smile [:)]

Best wishes, Clive

OK, but perhaps you remember fitting in a new "chip" in your cell, say when changing the supplier of the service. That's it.

Hi,

No. I've never changed suppliers.

I guess that means someone put a special chip in my phone when I bought it, before I received it?

You may have bought your cell from the service supplier. Then, by default they had to provide it with the chip too. The chip is detachable (through a small door at the back of the cell, usually). It's your identity on their network.

What, Mr Micawber - no cell phone?

Nope.
