Don't they deserve a peaceful childhood? Why must they pay for adults' greed? Is money more important than their lives? How could we save them? Don't be indifferent!

Dominik-

anyone with a heart should feel something for these unfortunate children.  The question is: to whom is our duty or responsibility?  Our first, I believe, is to our family.  After that, am I more morally obligated to my next door neighbor, my distant relatives, or these children of war?  I really don't have an answer, but I think that's the right question.

I know that many people will say - that’s not my business I can’t care for everyone in the world. It’s not my fault that they are dying. I think that we are all responsible for these children. They are innocent, defenseless and that’s why we should protect them. That’s not true that we can’t do anything. We can show our opposition to war and vote for peaceful, honest and humane politicians. We can support aid organizations financially. If we do nothing and pretend that everything is all right we are guilty of their tragedy.

This is a variation of Martin Niemöller's words.

They came first for the Communists,

    and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,

    and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,

and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for the children

    and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a child

    Then they came for me,

and by that time no one was left to speak up.

Do something ...

Just because it doesn't affect you ...

doesn't mean it never will.

Hi there,

Dominik you are absolutely right. Alas, the more we see such pictures, the sadder and more passive we become. We are accustomed to veiwing these events, yet we do nothing. What do you think is the reason?

Is it indifference about others or because we can do nothing??

What lies behind us and what lies before us are TINY matters compared to what lies WITHIN us

Alas, the politicians percept the information differently. I can't believe that they don't know about these facts... Still they usually take care not not notice them...

The main reasons are selfishness and indifference. It is easier to say that we can’t do anything that to try to do something. We choose easier way doing nothing and pretending that everything is all right. But this way is very egoistic.

Our indifference allows our politicians to do what they want and confirms them in their belief that they do a right thing.

Besides we can’t shift all blames onto politicians because it is only deluding ourselves. After all we vote for them. They grew up amongst us and they reflect our attitudes and views. If they don’t follow our conscience why do we still vote for them?

the problem may be that the people who are willing to do something are not united. They are singles among those who prefer to stay aside and not to bother about the problems of the others.
