But, Stoo, it is a novel. Jugding from those reviews from amazon.com, I do not think it stands with China.

If you want to learn the history of Tibet,
I would suggest that you first read BOTH material from Chinese authorities and those written by pro-Dalai Lama people,
then you will form your own jugdement by comparison,
and that is the serious and unique way to find the truth and that is the way historians use to recover the real history.

Look at the issues of Tibet in political views, I think the chinese government was kind enough. What will happened to Tibet if it had separated from china? Tibet has not many industries, especially heavy industries, and its desert farm is not fit for agriculture. Few tibetan have advanced education, and economic development is very slow. For it's terrible location in mainland, it's very hard for Tibet to communicate with others outside, We need to build new railways and plenty of signal towers to reach Tibet, and all that we had done already. If Tibet separated from china, it will easily be controled by other countries with mask named economic assistance. More than an important part of china, Tibet is also an absolutelly significant shield of defen

Our government offered good education to Tibet, build schools there and opened Tibet as a famous place for tourists, that improve the local commercial capability. Chinese government had done all what he can do to Tibet, There is religionary conflict in every nation(I mean the multinational countries), but conflict should not be the barriers on the way, in which a country approach peace and unification.

Tibet would only find themselves be occupied by those who had introduced them human rights without the protection from chinese government.

I think it's not necessary to read Both material from chinese government and pro-Dalai Lama people, we seek to solve the problems under peace and unification, but not leave all troubles to the independence of Tibet.

Tibet was, is, and will always be a part of China!

I agree that one had better investigate completely different sources to find out the truth. But do we call our own judgment "the truth"?

That's a good question. People think every event has its truth in theory, but even in science (kind of more definitive than politics) "the truth" is hard to find (thinking about Netown's second law and Eiestain's thoery, the latter is in doubt now). So I should say that is the serious way to approach "the truth." Just like in a court, both sides should have their lawers, the judge is supposed to find "the truth" by comparing what those lawers say or show.

But again, a judge (or jurymen) will finally sound out his own opinion based on the facts. No one can guarantee that his opinion is the truth. Right? So, I think "the truth" is a VERY broad conseption, and in the end everybody takes as the truth what he likes. That's all. It's applicable to most aspects of our life. That's why you stand the opinion that Tibet and Taiwan should be part of China - because YOU want it that way, and facts that confirm this view will always attract you more. As well as all facts that confirm that we are lied by mass media, politics, religion, even science, will always attract me more since I am sure there are people behind the curtain who are really ruling (trying to) the world folowing their own interests and ambitions. Everyone has his own truth, i.e. opinion.

Of course, a judge can not garantee each of his judgements always reflects the truth. But that can not deny that listening to both sides is the best way to find the truth.

In fact, I have no interesting in convincing you about whether Tibet and Taiwan are part of China. I was questioning your taking China earthquake as example to show your thoughts about the connection between human events and natural events, and blaming Chinese people for that. If one of your family died of cancer, do you think he or she should go to die because he or she must have done some evil things so that God have to punish him or her?
