Chinese is an adjective, China is a proper noun.

"I went to China last year and ate Chinese food."

The nation's name is China, if that is what you are looking for.

so you want to say that Chinese as noun doesn't exist?

what about "The Chinese" - when refered to as a nation?

It can be used as a noun. When we say 'the Chinese' we usually refer to the Chinese people or population as a whole rather than the country.

China is the noun.

Hi,

so you want to say that Chinese as noun doesn't exist?

what about "The Chinese" - when refered to as a nation? Yes, but as noted, this refers to the people while China refers to the whole country (eg the land, the people, everything).

You can also 'He's a Chinese", referring to one person. My Chinese students often say this. However, in my experience, Western people rarely or never use this noun expression. We say things like 'a Chinese person'.

best wishes, Clive

China can only be used as the short name of the country PRC(People's republic of China).
Chinese can be be used in 2 ways:
The first one is to be used as adjective,e.g. the Chinese tradition
The second way is to be use as a none, which refer to the ethnicity of Chinese people.People usually think Chinese is from China, which is not totally correct. There're also local Chinese in many countries besides China,e.g. Singapore, Malaysia
