hi everyone.

i'm looking for information concerning following theme: "Classification of Englsh Nouns. Diachronic And Synchronic Analysis."

i'm writing the course-paper at my university Smile [:)] and need some help. totally lost in this theme. T.T

hmm hmm i tryed for sure.

but i can't understand the difference betwee diachronic and synchronic analysis.

diachronic - means the historical development right? and what about synchronic so? i'm lost Crying [:'(]

Yes, 'diachronic linguistics' is the study of the history of language.

'Synchronic linguisitics' studies the state of a language at a particular point in time.

This topic can get quite complex quite quickly, as you can see by looking at internet sites that use these terms. I don't specialize in linguistics, but others here may offer you more advice. Do you not have any text-books for your course, or teachers, that can provide you with the background and information that you need?
