Clean this bedroom up; it's a disgrace.

Why should we use phrasal verb (clean up) in this sentence.

I think simply we can write (Clean this bedroom; it's a disgrace.)

Please explain the same.

You can use 'clean' alone. 'Clean up' = clean completely.
