Collection is not in itself a plural noun, but a collective noun for a group of things : A collection of fine paintings.

In the context of your two sentences, collection is an amount of money collected from several people, or the act of collecting money, and "collections" is the acceptable plural.

Hi,

Kimd;y clear my doubts I came across these sentences while reading articles

1. Collentions of income tax and corporate tax in 1970 totaled Rs 780 crore

In the above sentence is collection not appropriate word as collection itself is plural word.

2. Collentions have exceeded expectations so far...

Again same doubt is using 'collection' in the above sentence wrong grammatically.

If you want to stress that there was more than one act of collecting, then use the plural, otherwise the singular is fine.

You need to check your spelling.

What you have are more commonly called 'questions' than 'doubts'.
