Hi,

As some of you may have recently heard on the news about the Stern report being produced by the British Government indicating that economies will suffer a great deal, as well as a potential 40 million+ of refugees because of flooding. The Stern report indicates that we can solve Global Warming if we sacrafice 1%GDP and that a universal response of all countries within the world can solve this problem. However the problem is not about Britain, but however of America and China who contribute the most carbon emisions in the world. China builds one powerstation a week! This is just totally crazy. The Bush administration has no environmental policy and China simply won't cut down carbon emisions.

I think it's about time we forget about race, culture, religion and everything else we can find an excuse about. This problem will affect us 'all', regardless of who we are! America, China and indeed other countries within the world need to work togeather

What are the views of the chinese users who use this forum?

First it was The Aliens are Coming to Eat Us,  then Everyones Got Aids (or Bird Brain Flu), now it is Global Cooking.
There always has to be an exterior threat to 'unite' us (read; make us herd together in a pliable state of terror).

Next it will be Let Us Depopulate You, or Perish (the same thing really).    Mark my words!

Oops, I forgot the Boxcutter-Weilding-Barbarian-Terrorist Invasion (you know; those guys who live in caves and miraculously manage to fly airplanes into buildings slated for demolition in their spare time).

First, I'm glad I live on high ground next to fresh water (Great Lakes). Second, the people like those of the Bush administration and indeed the Chinese as well, need to wake up to the fact that we can't keep treating the planet like this. I'm no tree-hugger, but keeping CAFE standards too loose and the subsidizing of the fossil fuel industries in America needs to be stopped. China should realize that as their economy sky-rockets they should accept some of the responsibility of all that sulfur and dust they dump on Korea and Japan (and now, some of it even reaches the American west coast).
Not that I think it will happen anytime soon, though. Even among those countries that signed the Kyoto Protocol, some are falling behind.
I don't know how much this will mean in my own lifetime, but I guess I can always hang out with the Amish when the stuff hits the fan. Big Smile [:D]
