Closing/due date

Hello, teachers!

Is there any difference in usage? When do we use 'closing date' and 'due date'?
1. When is the closing date?
2. When is the due date?

'due' and 'closing' is different.
But in your case, they appears to mean the same to me.

due date seems more formal.
