What is a club car?
I think it's a train car or something.
Also, is it an American English word?
If so, what is the equivalent of the word in British English?

On U.S. trains it's the car that has a full bar, usually with tables and chairs instead of regular train seats.  Smoking used to be allowed, but I doubt it still is.

Subways absolutely do NOT have club cars.

Some Amtrak trains may, but they are more likely to have dining cars.
