A very interesting case came up on the supreme court desk here in India, is coconut a fruit, nut or vegetable
I will post the courts ruling on iy here but till then we all can scratch our heads on it and share with all the members here
I expect it has something to do with taxes or subsidies, or some such. I seem to recall, although it may be an urban legend, that the tomato (technically a fruit) was deemed to be a vegetable by Congress.
Oh - I found it: http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/framed.htm?parent=question143.htm&url=http://www.vegparadise.com/highestperch8.html
And it was in the 1800s, not some idiocy of the recent administrations.
you are right GG, it has to do with taxes and sudsidies and even how to control the prices, it's also technical stuff. Anyways something new i came to knwo about tamatoo and carrot thanks.
Mister Micawber((()))I fail to see how even the most self-righteous court could 'rule' on biological fact.
