If there has been some obstacle or bump in the road in your academic or personal life please explain the circumstances

“Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and
character produces hope.” Hope is something that I unquestionably lacked throughout middle school. I grew up in an happy home with supportive parents but the summer before my eight grade year everything changed, my parents decision to get a divorce led to the crumbling of my world . I turned rebellious to try and get the attention from my constantly arguing parents by hanging around a bad crowd and making decisions that didn’t reflect me as a person. It was the darkest time in my life so much that I would have described my life as hopeless. My pessimism got the best of me and I began thinking I wasn’t smart enough and decided school was a waste of time. It took the guidance of my counselor to change my mindset, she gave me the push I needed to succeed in school and managed to pull my grades up just in time. It was demanding and there were times I felt like giving up but I managed to pull through. I became more ambitious and driven than I ever was before. I studied hard, got tutoring and changed my whole perspective on life. When I got to high school I was a completely new person I went from nearly failing the eighth grade to getting A’s and B’s. I got more involved in school by joining the Key club and participating in volunteer services throughout the community. Although it was a hard time I’m glad I went through it. It has helped me become the aspiring young woman I am today.
