  1. It raises the question: what is a quality film.
  2. It raises the question: What is a quality film.
  3. It raises the question: (W)hat is a quality film.

Hello,

Could you give me a number, please?

I like 3.

Thanks

G'day Maya,

I am afraid that none of the above would be my response.

There is no question mark.

I doubt that a colon is required; I would suggest a semi colon.

The next letter after a semi colon would be lower case.

See ya

G'day Maya,

I think that you should wait for another opinion.  Punctuation is not my strong point.

See ya

In British English, we generally use lower case after a colon, but American speakers often use upper case. A question mark is needed after 'film'.

Yes, if what follows the colon is a complete sentence, as it is in this case. It's not WRONG to leave it lower case, because it is, as so many things are, a matter of style. I would think it was wrong to capitalize it if it were not a complete sentence

A question mark is needed after 'film'.

I completely agree.

Hi guys,

I prefer the indirect form. It raises the question of what a quality film is.

Best wishes, Clive
