Please tell me if the usage here for a colon is correct. My assumption is the part following a colon gives details of the part that precedes it or elucidate something that is in the part that precedes it.
Reported speech is speech which tells ..., but does not use the actual words: for example, "They said you did it", "He told her Jane made it, ...
