The water would stay calm for quite a while, and then all of a sudden, this huge monster wave would come crashing along towards the shore
What's the difference between "come crashing along toward" and "come crashing onto"?
Thanks.

This huge monser wave came crashing along towards the shore before crashing onto the shore - it indicates the wave travelling through the water.
