I'm trying to figure out if a comma it suitable before "as well"?

They allow us as individuals to realize our true meaning in life, to build character, and understand how we affect those who love us as well as those around us.

No, don't put a comma. those who love us as well as those around us is a single, closely related phrase.

{ As shown above, I'd add 'to' to make the sentence structure more balanced. }
