I'm trying to figure out if a comma it suitable before "as well"?

They allow us as individuals to realize our true meaning in life, to build character, and understand how we affect those who love us as well as those around us.

Thank you in advance to those who reply.
Hi,

No, don't put a comma. those who love us as well as those around us is a single, closely related phrase.

{ As shown above, I'd add 'to' to make the sentence structure more balanced. }

Best wishes, Clive

No doubt you have long since moved on to other matters, but here's a belated answer in further clarification. If you're not using "as well" in the sense of an appositive phrase (e.g. She went to the grocer's as well as the baker's), no comma is required. If you use "as well" in an appositive sense (e.g. I like football but I like golf, as well), then a comma is called for. George
