Where should I put comma in this sentence?

I have a hard time with this long sentence,are the commas in the right place?

The majority of Latinos are hard working people and will sell roses, oranges, and strawberries in the streets before they go out begging for money and food like many homeless people.

Moreover, most people have the misconception that poverty, hunger, and misery is exclusively for Latinos. In contrast, many of these day-to-day issues are equally affecting other minority ethnic communities such as Asian, and African-American.

The "commas" in the brackets[] should be omitted. e.g.

a) I have a dog, a cat and a rabbit as my pets. ( no "comma" after "cat")
b) This issue affects the old, the poor and the disabled. ( no "comma" after "the poor"

The way this is punctuated suggests to me that Mr. Jones who teaches Chemistry wasn't as athletically successful as Mr. Jones who teaches History.
