Hello:

There have appeared recently commercial links in postings, indicated by double underlines:

E.g. in the original posting of this thread:
-------
Post :400021

Chickens are inseparable from daily life in Indonesia in a way that must be witnessed to be understood.

I got this from the TIME magazine about poultry in Indonesian culture and avain-flu pandemic. I don't really understand what is implied by the italicized phrase. Could you help me to understand it, please?
--------
chickens and poultry are underlined and linked this way, which to be honest, bothers me.

Is this something intended by the owners of the site or something which is unadvertedly inserted there by some piece of software?

I have checked the post and there are no such links at present.  Links to other sites are often added by the poster to provide reference or clarification for the discussion.  In general, they are permitted for registered members.  They are often spot-checked for appropriateness.

If such links bother you, I suggest that you simply avoid clicking on them.

PS:   Judging from that particular discussion and poster, I doubt that linkage was added here at all.  Is it possible that your own browser or other software or add-ons add linkage to your screen?

Hi,
I wanted to post about this too, but then I forgot, also because things seem to keep on changing everyday.
How can you not know what anon was talking about? They are obviously talking about advertisments included by you admins in posts... that Kontera, you know, and other stuff.
I wanted to post to kind of "complain", because that kind of advertisement is the worst and most annoying you can find on the internet, maybe only popups can be worse. But in a forum those links are extremely annoying (a little window opens just by passing  over the link), bad-looking, and they slow down pcs and/or connections too. But then I didn't post, because I don't see many of those ads anymore, especially when I'm logged in. You probably changed something, well, actually it looks like you have been trying a lot of different ways to advertize here (I remember ads between the first post and the second on every page, big ads on the main page, then no ads, then ads again...).

So now I'd just like to say that whatever you want to do, I'd prefer not to see context-relevant ads and links IN the posts. I bet this is what anon wanted to say.

PS: they reappeared, I took a snapshot.

If you don't have a sense of humor already, it's about time you buy one.

Interesting. I wasn't aware that we were doing that, and I still not convinced it comes from us. Otherwise we'd all be seeing this - and I never have. Is it something from that person's browser or ISP? Sometimes if you get a free internet connection it comes with the condition of having ads inserted all over the place?

I checked this thread:
and the links under chickens and poultry show up (in blue double underline) for me only in anonymous mode.

Pls test in THAT mode.

I am paying for my ISP and I haven't seen this stuff at your site until now, in either of the signed-in or anonymous modes.

Ok, listen: it must be that everyone sees this, because it's part of this forum (unless only some countries are getting ads, but that's unlikely).
I noticed this some time ago, maybe 2-3 weeks ago. At first these kinds of advertisements were everywhere, even on the main page (the title of the page in the blue window contained ads, the "who is online" list contained ads too, etc.). They were visible to everyone, both logged and non-logged users. How is it possible you didn't see those? Anyway, after a while they were only visible to non-logged users. Then they disappeared completely, etc... and now you can see them only if you are not logged in, and only in threads, not on the other pages.
However, the situation keeps on changing, it's been changing for a couple of weeks, it is clear some admins have been trying several ways to advertise in this forum. Now there is a huge ad on the home page, visible only if you're not logged in, for example.
Luckily, it seems they understand they are annoying, so if you are logged in you have no problems now. Thank God! Smile [:)]

Kooyeen, I've never seen this. Ever. It's very odd. The picture you posted is completely unfamilar to me.

I suppose it is just that we are advertising for the benefit (?!) of non-members.  I never see it because I am always logged in when I'm online.

A good reason to register.
