Hi,

Could someone please clarify when I use a capital with the word academy when writing about the academy that I work in. For example:

'The Academy has over 700 pupils. As a member of the academy, you will be expected to..'

or should this read ''The Academy has over 700 pupils. As a member of the Academy, you will be expected to..'

I am not sure whether the second 'academy' should be capitalised, as it is a common noun? Can anyone help with the rules here?

If you use it in the first sentence, use it in the second.  The option is open, but I suggest the capitalized version.
