ex-company sales and in-market (=ex-distributor) sales

Could someone explain to me the definition of these two terms, please?

ex-company sales - items sold directly by the company

in-market/ex-distributor sales - items sold by the companies network of independent distributors.

i.e. You could buy a Sony TV directly from Sony (ex-company) or a shop that sells tv's (ex-distributor)

ex comes from Latin, meaning:
out of, from, off
