I seemed you in last post. I give you again :"yes, I was asked to compare and contrast" - why "was asked"?-which tense is it ?

I was asked ...  This is Simple Past tense in Passive voice.

Here's another example. Dinner was cooked (by Mary).

Yes, that's usually a more adjectival example.

But if you say :"yes, I was asked to compare and contrast" what you are really saying in passive voice is that your teacher asked you to do this.

eg I was asked (by my teacher) to compare and contrast. . '
