I don't know what you mean.
I mean why does he use "was opend" the tenses was+verb+ing or present simple with verb+ed.
why was + opend?

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about. And who do you mean by 'he'?

I suggest that you just post the sentences you are asking about, so we can see them clearly.

Best wishes, Clive

I seemed you in last post. I give you again :"yes, I was asked to compare and contrast" - why "was asked"?-which tense is it ?

Hi,

I seemed you in last post. I give you again :"yes, I was asked to compare and contrast" - why "was asked"?-which tense is it ?

I was asked ...  This is Simple Past tense in Passive voice.

Here's another example. Dinner was cooked (by Mary).

Thx , but it can be expression like this :"The library was closed" - and it's not passive voice.

Hui,

Yes, that's usually a more adjectival example.

But if you say :"yes, I was asked to compare and contrast" what you are really saying in passive voice is that your teacher asked you to do this.

eg I was asked (by my teacher) to compare and contrast. . '

Best wishes, Clive
