Thank you very much indeed for having the time to read my letter. I have made the corrections that you suggested and hope this time it is ok. However, I would kindly ask you to have a second look so that no single error slips away!!!!
THE CHANGES I MADE ARE MARKED WITH CAPITAL LETTERS!
I am writing to apply for the Masters Degree Programme in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at XXXX University.
My interest in this subject dates back to my years in college, where my special interest in THE environment was aroused by a course in Industrial Pollution and its Impact on the Natural Environment and the role of Multinational Corporations. As part of this course, I learnt how the deterioration of the natural environment is a major global concern. In many world cities, air and water pollution have reached dangerous levels. From a Marketing perspective I have also learnt the need to be aware of the threats and opportunities associated with four major trends in the natural environment: the shortage of raw materials, the increased cost of energy, increased pollution levels, and the changing role of governments in environmental protection.
This, together with the general public concerns over environmental issues such as the destruction of rainforests and other natural resources, made me environmentally conscious and subsequently provoked my strong interest in issues that affect Environmental and Natural Resources. Moreover, having spoken students and professors, I am excited by my decision to pursue my Master’s degree.
With a solid foundation in academic theory on Environmental & Natural Resources Economic Policies gained through the Degree Programme, I am confident that this will provide me WITH the knowledge, skills and confidence to realize my dreams. After I earn my master’s degree, I intend to make my greatest contribution in "eliciting" (BRINGING FORTH) the emerging environmental problems in my home continent Africa as a whole and particularly xxxxx, utilizing my theoretical background and creativity as a scientist.
In Western Europe and North America, “green” parties have vigorously pressed for public action to reduce industrial pollution and the PROMOTION OF THE the WISE use of raw materials. Whereas Africa, ON THE OTHER HAND, is undergoing an accelerating change, with environmental stewardship lagging behind economic and social development. Environmental gains from new technology and policies are being overtaken by population growth and economic development. Resolving these imbalances is the only way of ensuring a more sustainable future for Africa. I therefore seek admission because I believe joining this programme would provide me with the practical learning experience I am eager to acquire, in order to be able to achieve my objectives. Further, earning a Master’s Degree in Environmental & Natural Resource Economics would advance my other career goals by adding to my skills. INTERMS OF A CAREER, I SEE MYSELF TEACHING ABOUT ENVIRONMENT, WRITING AND PUBLISHING ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WORKING IN THE AREA OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT. IT IS R & D THAT I BELIEVE I CAN MAKE MY GREATEST CONTRIBUTION, EMPLOYING MY SCIENTIFIC-BACKGROUND AS AN ENVIRONMENTALIST.
I am highly aware of the superb reputation of your school, and my conversations with several of your alumni have served to deepen my interest in attending. I know that, in addition to your excellent faculty, your computer facilities are among the best in XXXX Universities. I hope you will give me the privilege of continuing my studies at your fine institution.
Sincerely yours,
Bohol
