Hello everyone,
I'm a student studying English - Arabic translation, now I'm doing my translation porject which is to translate a book, I choose a very beneficial one. However, it's a bit difficult to me, and my supervisor said that I'm not gonna be able to translate it. But I took the challenge and I'm happy I did!
I have translated 30 pages so far, but I've come across some compounds and expression that I didn't understand. I hope you help me with the meaning of what's writtin in red. Please explain the meaning of what's in green becuase I didn't get the idea.
the book is The Seven Secrets of Learning Revealed,
By Dr. Laurence D. Martel

Firstly, don't print in light gray. You can barely see it.
I'll do my best to translate but many of those phrases are quite abstract and difficult to define even for natural English speakers. Seriously, consider another book.
1- He conducted a double blind study.
This is an experimental method which uses two groups, an experimental group and a control group. e.g. one group is given the real drug and other is given a placebo. The key aspect of double blind is not even the researchers observing the effects know whether the subject was given the real drug or placebo.
2- These five outcomes of learning are the measures against which each of us define our own personal " quality world-view "
It means the way you personally see the world. Everyone sees it a little bit differently.
3- The learning style-based instructins
I need to see more of this sentence to get what this means.
4- These five results of learning contribute to transforming your current reality into a " state of being" that is different and better than today.
You might take this to mean your personal philosophy, or world view
5- Remember that no person is an island, nor is anyone known solely by his or her community.
No one is truly isolated from their community, but neither can it be said that if you know a community that it follows that you know the exact character of an individual within it.
6- Note the things you want to stop doing to be better learner that will lead to the "future state".
Again, this sentence makes very little sense in isolation, and maybe even in context. 'Future state' is the way things will be in the future which may be different to the 'Present state', the way things are now.
7- Print-oriented learner.
Someone who learns more effectively by reading than other methods such as visual or verbal learning.
8- Group- process learner. ( is it process as processing information or as away?)
process as in processing information. Someone who learns more effectively in a group situation than by other methods, eg. one on one instruction.
9- Though the subject may have been interesting, it may have seemes that you couldn't " get your hands on the material".
You could not find the information you were looking for.
10- Once you know the areas in which learning works best for anyone in your world of influence... ( areas as places or aspects?)
Probably 'aspects'. 'Your world of influence' - the people you have an effect on
11- To become more close-knit, happier and healthier member in the rest of the areas of your life.
To become closer to other people
12- we reconstructed the teams to become support group for individual performances and to be a sounding board for the entire group.
to provide contructive criticism of the performances i.e. to how they can be improved
13- It's difficult to get a word in with a visual relater since they talk rapidly.
Difficult to get them to listen to what you are saying because they are only interested in talking not listening
14- Too little attention has been given to people who need to "walk through" the material.
Everything needs to be explained to them about the subject because they have no knowledge about it. You have to walk them through it step by step or they won't understand.
15- Often a person with a strong preference for his modality may have an excellent sense of direction and a deep feeling for how the body works.
this sentence didn't make sense when i translated it, I think I misunderstand it, please explain it. And he keeps repeating the phrase "learning modality" and asserting that everyone has his or her own modality of learning. Does modality here mean a way of learning?
Yes, 'way of learning'. It's hard to tell what the rest of the sentence means.
16- Perhaps afternoon is your best time or maybe you "kick in" and are at your best in the evening.
Slang term, in this context meaning you improve your good feelings.
17- encourage others you relate with to change their frame of reference or the spiral of tension will continue as a habit.
change the way they look at things
tension that causes even more tension
18- Tiffany used a gallon milk jugs to add fructions of water together, hop-scotched addition, played a bingo game for multiplication and handled cut up geometry figures from cereal boxes to learn fraction addition and subtraction.
fractions not 'fructions'. Tiffany used gallon sized milk jugs and water to learn about fractions, hop-scotch (a common children's game) to learn about addition, played with shapes cut from a breakfast cereal box to learn about fraction addition and subtraction.
18- Parents ranked kids' not listening as a form of misbehaviour that pushed their buttons most.
Upset them the most
19-Often when learning or improving we " go it along". If you are a solo person or one of your family is, then go ahead and carry out your pursuits in a felf-directed way.
Should be 'go it alone' - meaning to proceed with no help from anyone
20- " It's too loud" or " It's not loud enough" are frequent household expressions that are often followed by " What's wrong with you?". These expressions are usually meant as "put downs," mean spirited remark or argument.
meant as an insult to the other person.
