Hi, everyone.

I'm studying conditional senteces recently.

But I could hardly tell the difference between each other. I mean a nuance.

Here are 3 sentences. Please let me know the nuance.

a) If you had graduated from A university, you would've gotten a better job.
b) If you had graduated from A university, you would get a better job.

I guess it depends on context.

But I mean general meaning.

Best regards.

Hi,

Here are 3 sentences. I only see two. Please let me know the nuance.

a) If you had graduated from A university, you would've gotten a better job. You have already gotten a job. The speaker is saying you would have gotten a better one than the one you got.

b) If you had graduated from A university, you would get a better job. You may or may not have a job now. 'Better' is clearly comparing two jobs, but they could both be jobs that are possible in your future.

As you said, a little context helps.

Best wishes, Clive
