"The awe and trepidation experienced in confronting the sublimity in untamed nature"

This sentence is from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanticism (second paragraph)
Someone told me it has to be "sublimities", but I wonder why?

I think they are wrong. The sublimity in untamed nature means "untamed nature's quality of being noble ".
