LJ, why don't you try going to www.google.com and doing search on context clues?

I've done that and it took me a lot of hours. I found some sites but they dont contain enough discussion on the topic. Most only have examples. I hope you can recommend sites having a more comprehensive discussion on this. Anyway, thanks! ^_^

Context cllues can tell you what an unknown word means or how to pronounce words that look alike.

some examples.

My favorite equine is Tagalong. I rode her yesterday. Even if you didn't know equine meant horse, the context tells you that it is something with a name that is ridden, so you would use context clues to decide that equine meant some kind of riding animal, probably horse since that is the most common.

I will read the book tomarrow.

I read the book yesterday. Based on the context you know that in the first sentance you say "reed" and in the second you say "red" even though both are spelled exactly the same.

Hi I need help with vocabulary in context, I am in tech college for the first time since I graduated from high school in 1981.   I really need all of the help that I can get. In my reading class, we have a lot of reading selections to complete and defining words in context, I get so confused sometimes. I will have a test on vocabulary in context Thinking [*-)]on this Tuesday.
