As fas as I understood from Wikipedia, this is the store, which sells mainly the first-need products. Typically these stores are located at the gas stations or at the roads. I was asked to compose the description of the accounting software for such a store.

I wonder what native speakers think of when they hear "Convenience Store"? Do they relate it to gas stations? Or does this term cover all the small shops which sell first-need products? If I call the software by "Convenience Store Accounting Software", will I be understood? Huh? [:^)]

Thanks.

When I hear of "convenience store" I think of stores such as Seven Eleven, Wawa, and White Hen.  These are not supermarkets.  They are franchises but smaller in size.  But I guess you could include quick marts attached to gas stations as well as any family owned grocery stores.  And yes, "Convenience Store Accounting Software" sounds pretty good to me.
