Academic Background:
I graduated with Bachelors of Science in April 2002 (with Computer, Mathematics and Physics as Major subjects) taught in English medium from University of Delhi, India. My degree emphasized on understanding of physical life sciences in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science and practical laboratory works to give a balanced understanding and to relate the concepts to that of practical implementation.
Computer Science as one of the major subjects covered various and core topics in Computer Organization and Operating Systems, programming fundamentals and data structures in order to build a complete basis for higher studies. The subject also covered Object Oriented Programming, Networks and Internet, Database systems and system engineering as well as multimedia systems and applications. Practical classes were a part of the learning system to give a complete knowledge in the field of Information and Communications Technology. Placing equal importance to mathematics and physics, they covered wide range of advanced topics like calculus and differential equations, real analysis and statistics observations in mathematics; and thermal and mechanical physics, electromagnetism, electronics, atomic and quantum studies in physics to list few with laboratory projects.
Profession & Responsibility:
Currently, since October 2002, I am employed as an ICT Officer in the IT Department of an Insurance Company which apart from its customary Life and Non-Life Insurance coverage, facilitates various business finances, credit cards and real estates business to its customers throughout the country via its widespread branch offices.
Therefore it has not only been a challenging task for me to align business services into IT platform but also to maintain, upgrade and give constant user support in order to ascertain the ultimate customer service. Through my profession I have learnt to implement IT applications, and have learnt that in the business world, information is a powerful tool for increasing an organization’s competitive advantage and information technology has become a tool of every activity in our day-to-day business, as every aspect of our service-oriented institution needs IT as an impetus behind the on spot service and booming global economy.
In the past few years I have witnessed that the explosive development of information technology and its applications are changing the way people live, learn, work and interact. Enhanced access to information and knowledge is rapidly becoming a potent tool for individuals and communities everywhere in their quest for new opportunities, for dignity and for a better life. Electronic Commerce (e-Commerce) has been bringing significant changes to business operations. The transition to e-commerce provides organizations with unique opportunities to create new business models, make more informed decisions, and streamline business processes. The advancing technologies in the inseminating information demands technologies like B2B and B2C, where the application of e-commerce and business solutions needs to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, making the future more challenging where we to be lifelong learners with the confidence and ability to develop skills and understanding while facing new challenges in the workplace. We need to become fully conversant with the current and emerging technologies and be able to adapt skills and use cutting-edge technology to present information, communicate and find out proper solution to the technological demand.
Expectations:
My responsibility as ICT personnel in a public sector like Insurance Company demands necessary and excellent education and guidance to facilitate quality service to the users in order for the users to provide on-the-spot customer service to the clients. The present duty that I am undertaking as an ICT person is a challenging task to facing pressing situations when it comes to handle IT related issues in order to enable our users to furnish instant services to the clients. Therefore given the opportunity to undergo graduate studies at Tilburg University, I fully hope that I will be able to gain adequate knowledge to manage, handle and face the issues related to Information Technology within and outside the domain of the Company.
I also hope that I would have the opportunity to exploring advance topics on Information Management to upgrade my level of understanding towards the globalized world. I also hope that with the knowledge gained from the graduate studies I would be able to impart it to my co-workers, friends and people associated with me. And I hope that the graduate studies would enable me to prepare for the future challenges in the field of Information Technology management. I do expect to learning latest developments in ICT and its applications in Business-IT alignments in order managing the ICT in a professional and effective way to achieve the goal of the company.
However, after the studies I do hope to gain the knowledge that can be applied in my Organization as
