The problem of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis is that they are lost between the chaos of local events and the swarming fast developments of international issues, to a point where their case was almost forgotten. The suffering this group is enduring is an issue that really needs to be addressed by the parliament. The problem is simply that the Kuwaiti woman has been treated as a foreigner, although she is a citizen and has the same duties towards her country, just like the men. why doesn't the state treat the suffering of Kuwaiti women in the same way they would a Kuwaiti man? I'm not saying it should be identical to the Kuwaiti men; but rather similar.
I understand the fears of the legislator on this issue. Foreigners may begin to marry Kuwaiti woman out of greed and the possible benefits that result from getting a Kuwaiti nationality; which is also an issue among Kuwaiti men. This fear may have its justification, yet the treatment of Kuwaiti women contradicts the principals of this country, which is respecting the Kuwaiti human being; even if it is a female. I believe, with disappointment, our society is male dominated and does not grant Kuwaiti women the same status, privileges and protection that Kuwaiti men enjoy.
The Kuwaiti woman must be considered with equality, responsibility and respect when she gets married to a non-Kuwaiti, and her affairs are dealt with some sensitivity. The situation today is that the Kuwaiti women's children are naturalized under one condition; when the father is separated from the mother. Thus, the state, instead of preserving the family, encourages the destruction of it. Kuwaiti women are rewarded with nationalization for their children when they leave their husbands. The legislator should preserve the families, by studying them on a case-by-case basis. This would allow them to detect abnormalities in the marriages. Considering the number of years and how the families are getting along are a good way to determine if they should be naturalized. Just like the united states for example, if the spouse of an American wants obtain the nationality he /she has to meet cretin rules and regulation ,and when he/she has met those rules and regulations he/she then will be granted the nationality.
I think Kuwait should try different methods and ways to and learn from the solutions that are used in different countries around the world help solve the Kuwaiti women problems that are associated with their families naturalization.
