Concerning: application for the Master Exchange Programme autumn semester 2007

Place, date

Dear Ms. ***,

I am writing to apply for the Master Exchange Programme with specialisation *** at the *** for the upcoming autumn semester.

Since 2004 I am studying Economics at the ***. At the end this academic year (July) I will graduate for my Bachelor degree in Economics with major Financial Economics. After my Bachelor degree I would like to pursue my education by studying for my Master degree in Financial Economics.

During this Master I would like to study for a couple months abroad because that has been always one of my wishes. My main motivations to go studying abroad are that I would like to meet new people and other cultures, learn another language and experience another educational system. I think also that studying and living in a foreign country encourages initiative, independence and responsibility.

Why I’ve chosen Norway as my preferred destination, is that I would love to find out more about the Norwegian culture and society. Years ago I have be on holiday to Scandinavia. I have also visited Norway and was impressed by its beautiful nature, nice people and lifestyle. I would love to go back and revive this experience for a much longer time.

Another reason for choosing Norway is that (most of) the Master programmes that are offered are in English so that it will be possible for me to follow lectures and take part in discussions with other students. I am certain that my English will improve drastic because of that and I will overcome my shame to speak English. This will benefit me greatly in persecution of my Master program since the Master Financial Economics at the *** is also in English.

When I decided at which university I would like to study, the *** was my first choice. This university has great facilities for international students, like the student campus and the buddy system, and has also a strong international focus.

I was also impressed by the way the classes will be taught. There will be demanded a lot of active contributions from the students in form of presentations, discussion groups and projects. Because of this, my presentation and debating skills will improve much and this will come very helpful in the rest of my (academic) career.

Another reason is that Master Financial Economics is taught at ***. In the academic programme of this master there are a lot of courses that I like and that I also can introduce into my curriculum of the master Financial Economics at the *** as an elective course.

I hope that I will be accepted as an applicant in the academic year 2007/2008. I am confident that I am qualified and prepared to meet all requirements of the application.

Yours sincerely,
