Reason to Raise a Salary
Almost every day I have to convince people about calling cards. Which ones are good? Which one has more minutes to different countries like Ghana, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru and others. As a result, this is my job. I am a business operator in MTR multiservices at New Brunswick. This is a little background about my work. The most recent experience which I tried to convince my boss Mr. Santos was about a raise of salary for multiple reasons.
To begin with, I make my claim convince for the year in the company. I have been working for 4 years in this money transfer business because I can combine school and job at the same time. Also, Mr. Santos does not interference in any changes with the schedule and the employee. In other words, his employers are students from Rutgers the state of New Jersey University, Kean University and Middlesex County College. My duties in the company is the money transfer to North, South and Central America, to resolve customers complains, to sell money orders and others task.
A couple months ago, the boss gave me the responsibility to open and close the store on Sundays, to save the money in the strong box and lock it; however, any raise was not given. I did not pay any attention to this because; I was exhilarated with this new challenge. Another reason, when I employee left the job, I have to training the new one because I am the only one with more experience in the field. Even though, the raise was not given. I know the money is not important but, I depend on it. A couple weeks later, I set up a meeting with my boss to talk about my raise for the multiple duties that I am doing for the progress of the business. I spoke to Mr. Santos about my reasons to increase my salary. My boss understands that I have a point and I gave him assured reasons. Also, he was aware about me. At this time, he is not able to give a raise because of the economic of the store. The primordial reason was the competence in the area. To illustrate, the money transfer have been decreased from 80% to 70%, the phone cards have not been sold like before. To be specific, Union mall was given 3 phones cards of $ 2 for the total price of $ 5.
Subsequently, I did not like this answer at all because I consider that I deserve the raise. I have been a loyalty employee for 4 years. It is true, when my co-worker Glendys said “the company does not care how hard you work, just if you can handle the work”. As a solution, I applied in Saint Mary school to become a teacher assistant in the after school program. The job is about 12 or 15 hours per week, besides I am still working in MTR Multiservices as a business operator. Now, I can survive for a couple a months to pay the bills such as cell phone, credit cards, gas, and electricity. I hope my boss Mr. Santos consider my raise as soon as possible. Otherwise, he will lose a trustworthy employee.
