Behind only the Yankees, the Red Sox are the most hated team in baseball, which can largely be accredited to their high payroll and obnoxious fans.

Hello TCMC,

It looks ok to me. The implicit antecedent here is "a state of affairs" or "situation", i.e.

1. The Red Sox are the most hated team in baseball, [a state of affairs] which can largely be accredited to their high payroll and obnoxious fans.

PS:

But "accredited" sounds odd to me: I would replace it with "attributed".
