Hi guys,

Is the below use of 'to' (as opposed to 'too') correct:

If you want to talk then I am happy to

Many thanks in advance!

Frankly, I didn't understand what you mean.

If you want to talk, then I am happy to talk.

Do you mean this?

You might hear the construction in ordinary conversation, or see it in less formal written English.

It's probably more usual for the subject of the first verb and the second (unexpressed) verb to be the same, e.g.

1. If you want me to come over tonight, I'd be happy to [come over tonight].

Best wishes,

MrP

Thanks Mr P, so the use of 'to' is correct - I was saying it in an informal text message to somebody???

Many thanks,

Andy

It will not be a problem to use it in informal contexts.
