Hello,

1. She was asleep, when her mother came.

Is the above sentence correct?

2. She was sleeping when her mother came.

Is the (2) correct version of (1)?

Hello Mr.Clive,

The first sentence was given  to a student for correction and the teacher suggested  the same as (2).

One more doubt , there is a comma before  the word  when

1. She  was asleep, when her mother came.

Is the comma  correct in this sentence?

Hi,

I wouldn't say that the comma is wrong, but I wouldn't put it in the sentence myself.

Clive
