Dear Ms ***,
I will be graduating from university with a diploma’s degree in Psychology in May 2006 and am seeking employment opportunities for summer 2006 in the field of childcare. From your web site I learned about your need for camp counsellors for your summer camps in ***, *** and ***, ***. I am very interested in this position, either in *** or in *** and will be available for the whole summer period.
My work background and coursework have supplied me with many skills and an understanding of dealing with children and adolescents. Because of my special interest in child- and adolescent psychology and -therapy, my main focus at university was on clinical psychology and developmental psychopathy. My diploma thesis contained an experiment with 115 preschool children, so I gained a lot of experience in dealing with children. Furthermore I worked as a student assistant at the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology. Besides I gained some additional practical experience in the work with children and adolescents. For example I have had the opportunity to work for more then eight months at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Clinical Centre ***, where my responsibilities included leading therapeutic group trainings and group activities, conducting diagnostic and therapy sessions, helping with lunches and snacks, and implementing appropriate activities.
I believe that the combination of my educational and work background and my great pleasure in dealing with children is well-suited to the work at ***. I have enclosed my resume with additional information about my qualifications.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
***
