Hi,
I am new to this forum. I would like some help. I am applying for a Msc program in Microelectronics System Design. Here is my Personal Statement:
Personal Statement
If there is some thing I have developed over the past three years, they are an acute awareness of what I can not do and how to be a electronic engineer.****(I am worried about my first paragraph which is not as interesting as to attract the admission officer's eyes)
Admittedly, being in a state of knowing what I can do can bring one with pride, yet accepting something that I can not do will enable one to put all his or her efforts to study, practice and finally master the knowledge. In the first semester of my study, I was afraid of one basic course C Language Programming, because I know little about programming and computer before entering the university. Since I knew my weakness, I designed specific studying plan for the course, including memorizing its Grammar Structure and key words, compiling various procedures printed on textbook and trying to use it in daily life. As the study minister of my department, I helped Professor to record attendance rate. By writing a simple C program, I easily processed 120 students’ data. At last, I found C Language Programming was not seemingly difficult, and the trick to overcome it is strong basic knowledge and constant practice. In fact, such principle has been applied to all my language study: English, Visual C++, C51, Assembler Language, Verilog HDL, VHDL, and other courses.
In fact, when I chose Electronic Information Science and Engineering as my major, I did not have a clear concept of being an electronic engineer. All I knew was that it required a strong academic foundation, thus besides my major courses, I also chose course of Communication Engineering Program, and excelled in A level courses in maths, physics, analogue and digital circuit design technology, telecommunication principle. The last semester of my third school year, I and other two classmates participated in SOPC (System On a Programmable Chip) Electronic Competion held by Altera Co., which was a design project based on Altera Development & Education Board. Our project is called Digital Police System, basing on the CycloneII(EP2C35F672C6) FPGA , using UC/OS as its operation system. With some external modules such as GPS,GSW,GUI, it enable a policeman to access through the internet and also have the function of global positioning, telephone, short message. Unfortunately, our team did not realize the system we designed ,but I have learned at least two lessons from it. Firstly, communication and cooperation is crucial in team work. During the project, I was in charge of getting familiar with each modules, including working principles and interface programing. Because of limited time, we held meeting periodically, when we reported each one’s progress and made adjustments accordingly. Secondly, I have learned how to locate the useful information among millions search results on the internet and absorbed it effectively. I believe that such abilities are of great importance to my future study, even work, because.(I would like to write some reasons, but I don't know how to express them without duplication)..................
I am not a perfectionist, yet I would like to do my best to learn, try, and practice,so dose my applying for Msc Microelectronic System Design in your university. The first and most important reason for my choice is that one stream of this program SOC is exact the field I want to join in, and through my intensive schoolwork, hands-on work experience, and prolonged personal interest, I have demonstrated my considerable commitment to electronic engineering. Besides, your university possesses good academic environment, teaching team and facilities, and in UK the technology is more advanced than our country. All of these impel me to determine to study in your university.
I am sure I can study hard in your esteemed university and receive my degree as soon as possible. Upon completion graduate education, I will further my study for doctor's degree. Because technology and knowledge renovated very fast, I dream of become an Electronic Engineer, which needs profound professional knowledge, to enhance my capacity of employment competitiveness and social service.
I hope my personal statement may be helpful to your understanding of my application and me.
Thanks for your hard work and earnest consideration.
