Hello, I am wondering if anyone could proofread this intro paragraph of my essay for me. I would be very greateful. Thanks.

Alice Munro’s “The Shining Houses” and Barbara Kimenye’s “The Winner” are two short stories that depict the materialism present in societies. Although both writers portray the avarice that exists in societies, their stories “The Shining Houses” and “The Winner” illustrate distinct motives for the cupidity, describe different levels of its destructiveness, and demonstrate dissimilar resistances against it. Both “The Shining Houses” and “The Winner” depicts how the society is fully engrossed in the greed for material wealth, but the greediness they describes differ drastically in its origins. In “The Shining Houses”, the motivation comes from getting higher resale values for their estates. On the other hand, the greed in “The Winner” is based on getting monetary aid from Pius, the elderly lottery winner. The avarice that is portrayed in both stories also varies on its destructiveness. For one society, the damage greediness caused is purely temporary and physical while the other illustrates a more permanent and sinister kind of detriment. The common notion of cupidity depicted in “The Shining Houses” and “The Winner” also differs considerably in the type of resistance that it encounters. In the case of “The Shining Houses”, little resistance was been offered whereas in “The Winner”, the opposition is quite robust.
