Hi,
I am just writting a motivation letter for a PhD fellowship. A research school is offer some special training and seminars initially and leading to have an opportuninty to join into a research group and finally write the phD thesis. Could any of you help me to review the motivation letter bellow - especially the english grammer and so on? it would be highly appreciated.
Dear Sir/Madam,
With this letter, I would like to submit my candidature for the PhD studentship of “molecular basis of plant development“ at The *** Institute for *** Research under the International *** School in ***(city).
I have completed Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Masters of Science (M.S.) at the department of *** under the University of ***. In my M.S. thesis, I had worked on Tissue culture and Biotechnology - successfully transferred marker gene and Fungal resistant gene in potato. My foundation has given me in-depth knowledge on subjects such as plant breeding, genetics, plant biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, pathology/immunology, cell biology, microbiology, and ecology. I have a good experience on isolation of plant genomic DNA and plasmid DNA, restriction digest and mapping, vector construction and cloning of vector, PCR and other biological techniques as well as tissue culture and genetic transformation of potato. .
I personally evaluate myself as a courteous, hard working, studious, open-minded and enthusiasm co-worker. In addition to my academic activities, I also have a chance to take part in many social volunteer activities which give me experiences in working individually or in team, working with foreigners, participating different workshops. Medium of instruction for both undergraduate and graduate degrees is English. Besides, I live in Germany for a year and have just completed 6 months full time German language course. I believe - both language skills make my communication easy to maintain good working relationships with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.
Regular seminars and training of soft skill/practical courses such as reverse genetics, non-invasive imaging, 3D-structural protein analysis, bioinformatics, novel mass spectrometry-based protein biochemistry etc. will provide me depth knowledge in molecular plant science. These skill set sharpen my research traits to strive myself to find something fundamental innovative research work. Therefore, I have endeavoured to upgrade my education and willing to participate into such a programme offered by IMPRS. Furthermore, after the successful completion of PhD thesis, I will gather strong knowledge and experience to build up my future research career as a scientist as well as taking part into the plant development of my country.
Thanking you in advance for your time and kind consideration of the selection for the fellowship. If you require any further information, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to hear a positive response from you soon.
Yours Sincere,
ABC
