I am writing to apply for *****
scholarship for graduates ******.
I graduated on biology in April
2006 at University of “***”. Although the curriculum was broad, the work on my
diploma thesis provoked clear interest in molecular and cell biology with human
focus. This work gave me an opportunity to learn and apply basic molecular
biology techniques: PCR based methods, isolation of DNA/RNA and more
sophisticated techniques like: cell culture, silencing of RNA. My diploma work
was evaluated with highest grade.
I had worked voluntarily as
research assistant, out of the university curricula, on molecular diagnostic
project for detection of Human Papillomavirus, which included more than 6,000
swabs and biopsies. This work I had presented on international student
congress.
Our, *****, society is young and
makes efforts to improve the quality of university education, but studies in
which I am interested are still the future to come. Continuing my education in
my home country will be nonstimulative and difficult.
The lack of sophisticate
laboratory instruments will confine any bold ideas, and students are found to
repeatedly do thesis on area that already had been explored.
Financing the studies and living
costs should be also envisaged. I finished my graduate studies with financial
help of my parents, but my family can not support any longer, my further
education.
There is strong will, among older
and younger people, to change today’s **** society, by the example of the western
world, but there are still persistent habits from the past society which slow
the inevitable transition process. I see, as the only tranquil way of
transition, is to educate the future leaders of scientific, political life by
practical example. That is the best way to help our country to develop.
From personal reasons, I want to
pursue an MSc and PhD degree so, once when I will work in research center, I
can say that I am scientist.
Studying in ****** will give me, excellent
point of start for fulfilling my dreams.
