Which is the best answer?

The caterpillar __ on the leaf.

a crept gently
b walked slowly
c moved quietly
d crawled softly

I choose c. What do you think?

C is not the best choice, Vincent, because it is too general.  Worms, snakes and caterpillars (legless creatures) usually 'crawl'.

Moving is very general, Vincent.  These are just some of the few kinds of movingcrawling, hopping, brachiating, slithering, running, swimming, flying, springing, limping, jogging, etc.-- and these are just verbs of moving from one place to another!  There is also nodding (moving one's head), waving (moving one's hand), etc.
