What's the difference? Is the second closer in distance?

I see another video opportunity, but I might struggle to find a willing extra to do the cuddling!
I can't see much difference, except that I feel
cuddled up to me
means more of her made contact with me than in the first.

Without 'next', it might be a more figurative use of the expression (mental cuddling); with 'next', it's definitely physical.
