Mistakes of all kinds can be small or large ones, so I wouldn't single
out cultural mistakes as more heinous. Recognition of cultural
faux pas arises in the classroom, and I draw attention to them
then. Many textbooks have 'cultural notes' sections in each unit
which touch on the more common causes of embarrassment or physical
injury.
