Hi Anon,

first of all it depends where are you applying for job...Resume format is mostly used in USA, Canada (many other countries) while Europass CV is official format used in Europe.

From your Resume (format that you provided is Resume format) it seems that you recently graduated from school. Therefore, I would recommend reading this article on resume writing for graduates by Rade Santrac.

In case you are located in one of the EU countries then you should use Europass CV format. You can find MS Word template on official website of EU commission. Europass CV template is very complicated with tables embed inside many tables...so, lot's of people find it hard to control all those tables in MS Word.

You can use GetResume.com online Resume and CV builder to create your Standard Resume or Europass CV, download it in PDF for free. Also, you will be able to download eBook in PDF about Resume writing for free, as well Wink [;)]

Good luck with your job search!

I am ready to be criticised. Just do it and I will appreciate it!

Thanks,

There is one thing that I'm having a hard time on; verb tense.  Is it okay if I make a list of tasks that way  :

1-Programming applications ...

2-Writing reports ...

3-Attending to meetings...

instead of using the simple past ?

In addition, before listing the tasks I would like to resume my work experience in on sentence, could I use the simple present ?

For exemple :

Program data acquisition applications and numerical simulations for the isac control room.

Thanks again

Hi,

There is one thing that I'm having a hard time on; verb tense.  Is it okay if I make a list of tasks that way  :

If you are describing your current job, use simple present to describe your 'tasks', eg write reports.

If it's your previois job, use simple past, eg wrote reports.

1-Programming applications ...

2-Writing reports ...

3-Attending to meetings...

instead of using the simple past ?

In addition, before listing the tasks I would like to resume my work experience in on sentence, could I use the simple present ?

For exemple :

Use the same tenses as I described above.

Program data acquisition applications and numerical simulations for the isac control room.

Best wishes, Clive

Thanks a lot !

But just to make sure, because it still sounds weird to my ear, but if you say it's the right way to do it I will beleive you, considering it's a previous work experience I should write :

Tasks: Programmed data acquisition applications and numerical simulations for the ISAC 2 (isotope separation and acceleration 2) control room.

Should I say :

Tasks: I programmed data acquisition applications and numerical simulations for the ISAC 2 (isotope separation and acceleration 2) control room.

instead ?

Thanks again

Hi,

But just to make sure, because it still sounds weird to my ear, but if you say it's the right way to do it I will beleive you, considering it's a previous work experience I should write :

Tasks: Programmed data acquisition applications and numerical simulations for the ISAC 2 (isotope separation and acceleration 2) control room.

This sounds OK. It's a simple statement of a past activity, and that's what Simple Past tense is used for.

Such things are normally written in a somewhat abbreviated grammar , without the personal pronoun 'I'.

I see that you have the sub-heading 'Tasks:' here. I'm not sure how appropriate that seems. It doesn't seem necessary.

I wouldn't recommend numbering the various points in your lists. In my experience, that's not normally done.
