I bought some cosmetics in the US,  but I don't know the date of the production or the date of best use.

For example:

18DN04 (on a lip balm)

18D804 (on a lip balm)

7NC (on some moisture cream)

Can someone tell me what does these letters and numbers mean? Do they mean the production date or it is best before this date?

 Those look like batch numbers.

The date should be in the form day month year : 12 Jun 08/2008  - Let me qualify that - in the UK  this is the way the use-by date is given

Products usually have month/year.

Things that spoil quickly, like milk, will be Month/Day

All other dates in the US are Month/Day/Year

Thanks. I just cannot find the date anywhere on the package. Next time, I will ask the miss who sold them to me.

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that the US does not require cosmetics to list use-by dates, the way the UK (and I think the rest of Europe?) does. Ah yes, here you are.

Thank you very much. That's quite informative.
