Which of these sentences is correct, please?
"Indeed, any world map will demonstrate that the Bering Strait is the narrowest body of water quarantining the Americas from the rest of the world."
"Indeed, any world map will demonstrate the Bering Strait is the narrowest body of water quarantining the Americas from the rest of the world." (From what I've read about relative clauses and pronouns, I think this is the correct sentence.)
Also, I had a hard time deciding if "map demonstrates that..." or if it should be "map will demonstrate that...". Is the "will" version correct?
Anonymous:"...demonstrate that the Bering Strait..." is the correct version.
I don't have any strong preference for either version but I would probably use "...map will demonstrate that..." if I was writing this unprompted.
FishWildlifeGuyWhich of these sentences is correct, please? The only difference is the use of that, which is optional, so both are correct. With such long clauses, however, I would include that, so I recommend the first version above.
FishWildlifeGuyI had a hard time deciding if "map demonstrates that..." or if it should be "map will demonstrate that...".You are speaking of "any world map" as if the reader will have to go and find one first, so the version with 'will' makes a lot of sense. If your text included a map, however, you would write something like "The map below demonstrates that ..."
