Hi,

Is it right to use the verb "depend" in this sentence?

"We're depending on you to come."

Thanks.

Probably you find it strange because you know another meaning of "depend": X depends on Y.
But we also use it in the sense of count on. We're counting on you = we're depending on you.

Hi,

I know how to use "depend"

The thing I said "strange" is the meaning of the whole sentence.

Is "come" used here suitable?

To me, it is not satisfying. I need your explanation about "come".

The meaning of "We're depending on you to come" is

"We're depending on your arrival"

No, it means we hope that you will come.

Your sentence means we will not do something, unless you come

we MIGHT NOT do something (such as having complete fun!), unless you come

come is OK here
